Mumbai:- The government has a clear policy for the transport of school students in the state and a transport committee has been formed at the school level and a district bus safety committee has been formed at the district level. School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse said that a special campaign will be launched across the state to check school transport rules.
Member of the Legislative Assembly Rais Sheikh raised a question in the House regarding the incident of two students falling from a private school van in Ambernath in Thane district and getting injured. Members Abhimanyu Pawar, Vitthal Langhe, Nana Patole, Sanjay Meshram also participated in this discussion.
School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse said that on July 7, 2025, while some students were travelling in a van of a private English school in Ambernath, two students fell down and got injured. The vehicle was privately parked by the parents of the students concerned. The police registered a case on the day of the incident and the next day the Regional Transport Office took action against the vehicle concerned.
The government has made it mandatory for schools to ensure the safety of students by verifying the drivers, installing GPS systems, CCTV cameras in buses, appointing female attendants, training of transport staff and verifying by the police that the drivers have not consumed alcohol or drugs. Also, a special inspection campaign will be conducted across the state in collaboration with the Education Department, Police Administration and RTO to ensure strict compliance with school traffic rules. Minister Bhuse also said that the safety of the students will be given top priority and necessary action will be taken in this regard.
