Maharashtra Govt Approves ₹12.79 Crore for Construction of 'Urdu Ghar' in Akola

AKOLA:- The Minority Development Department of the Government of Maharashtra has officially granted administrative approval for the construction of a state-of-the-art 'Urdu Ghar' in Akola district. The project, approved with a total budget of ₹12,79,03,000, aims to promote the literary progress of the Urdu language and foster creative dialogue, ideas, and cultural exchange between Marathi and Urdu writers, poets, and intellectuals.

According to the official Government Resolution (GR) issued on May 27, 2026, the facility will be built on a 2,500 square meter plot located at Mauje Akola (Sheet No. 37C, Plot No. 5). The multi-story structure will feature a total built-up area of 2,489.80 square meters, divided equally between the ground and first floors.

The approved budget includes ₹6.97 crore for the main building construction, alongside dedicated allocations for internal and external electrification, firefighting systems, modern furniture, and water supply infrastructure. The project will also see the development of a compound wall, water storage tanks, approach roads, parking facilities, and dedicated landscaping. To ensure inclusivity, the state government has made it mandatory to install ramps, railings, and specialized facilities to make the entire building fully accessible for persons with disabilities (Divyangjan). The construction will be executed by the Public Works Department (PWD). The government has set a strict timeline, directing that the entire construction process must be completed by December 31, 2027.

The District Collector of Akola and the Executive Engineer of PWD Akola have been tasked with monitoring the project closely and submitting quarterly progress reports to ensure the work is completed on time without any cost overruns.
