MUMBAI, January 28, 2026 – The Government of Maharashtra has officially announced a three-day period of state mourning following the passing of the Honorable Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Ajit Ashatai Anantrao Pawar, who breathed his last today, January 28.
In a "CRASH" wireless message issued by the General Administration Department, the following measures have been put into immediate effect.
A three-day state mourning will be observed across Maharashtra from January 28 to January 30, 2026.
The National Flag will be flown at half-mast on all government buildings throughout the state where it is regularly hoisted.
There will be no official entertainment or government functions during this three-day period.
The state government has declared the closure of all government offices across Maharashtra today, Wednesday, January 28, 2026, as a mark of respect.
The notification, signed by Under Secretary H.P. Baviskar, has been dispatched to all divisional commissioners, collectors, and police superintendents to ensure immediate compliance with the protocol.
