NTA Cancels NEET (UG) 2026; CBI Probe Ordered Over Irregularities

New Delhi:-The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced the cancellation of the NEET (UG) 2026 examination held on May 3, 2026. The decision comes following investigative findings shared by law enforcement agencies regarding the integrity of the exam process.

The NTA, with approval from the Government of India, will re-conduct the medical entrance exam. The fresh dates for the examination and the schedule for re-issuing admit cards will be notified shortly through official channels.To ensure a thorough probe into the alleged irregularities, the Central Government has handed over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The NTA has pledged full cooperation with the bureau, providing all necessary records and assistance.

 Candidates will not be required to register again or pay any additional fees for the re-conducted exam. All existing registration data and opted examination centers will be carried forward. The NTA has also stated that fees already paid will be refunded to students, and the re-examination will be funded using the agency's internal resources.

In the official press release, the NTA Director stated:

> "This decision has been taken in the interest of students and in recognition of the trust on which the national examination system rests. The Agency is conscious that re-conduct will cause real and significant inconvenience, but the alternative would have caused greater and more lasting damage to that trust."
