Yavatmal Police Crack Daylight Robbery Case Within 24 Hours

Two Arrested, Entire Loot Recovered

Yavatmal: The Yavatmal Local Crime Branch (LCB) has arrested two individuals within 24 hours for brutally attacking a senior citizen and robbing his gold ring. The police have successfully recovered 100% of the stolen property, which includes the looted gold ring and a stolen water pump, totally valued at ₹1,13,440.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of June 13, 2026. The victim, Sunil Mahadev Pali (55), a  Pandharkawada Road, Yavatmal, was working in his field near 'Chacha Ka Dhaba' when two unidentified assailants ambushed him. The attackers assaulted him with a machete (koyta), leaving him injured, and forcibly snatched a gold ring weighing approximately 7 grams from his finger before fleeing the spot.

Following a complaint filed by the victim's niece, a case was registered at the Yavatmal City Police Station under Crime No. 496/2026 under Sections 309(6) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Sensing the gravity of the broad daylight crime, Police Inspector Satish Chavare of the Local Crime Branch immediately dispatched specialized teams to track down the suspects. Acting on precise confidential intelligence, the LCB layout a trap and nabbed two suspects one is Satish alias Shembdya alias Mungshya Babarao Madavi (25), residing at Lohara, Yavatmal and second is Sheikh Samir alias Chotya Sheikh Israil (22), residing at Bendkipura, Yavatmal.During intense interrogation, both accused confessed to the assault and robbery.

Further investigation revealed that the duo was also involved in another crime committed on the same morning. They confessed to stealing a 5 HP water pump (valued at ₹6,000) from another farm on Pandharkawada Road. A separate case (Crime No. 498/2026) under Sections 303(2) and 3(5) of the BNS has been registered for this theft.

According to the police, the prime accused, Satish alias Shembdya, is a habitual offender with a notorious criminal record. He has previously been booked under the stringent Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act.

The successful operation was executed under the direct guidance of Superintendent of Police (SP) Kumar Chinta, Additional SP Ashok Thorat, and LCB PI Satish Chavare. The operational team included API Manish Gawande, PSI Sagar Ingle, and police personnel Ajay Dole, Rupesh Pali, Prashant Hedau, Rituraj Medve, Sunil Paithane, Mahesh Wakode, Devendra Hole, Pratik Neware, Rushi Fulkar, and Amit Pasle from the Cyber Cell.

The accused and the seized property have been handed over to the Yavatmal City Police Station for further legal proceedings.
