Mumbai – Recent health experts are warning that staying awake late into the night might be more harmful than you think. Consistently going to bed after 11:00 PM could be disrupting your body’s natural clock, potentially leading to long-term health issues.

According to doctors, the human body follows a Circadian Rhythm—an internal clock that regulates sleep, energy, and hormones. When we miss the "ideal window" for sleep (usually between 10 PM and 11 PM), the body misses out on peak recovery time.

Your body repairs itself during deep sleep. Late nights mean less time for repair, Staying up late often leads to midnight snacking and a slower metabolism, Lack of timely rest increases Cortisol (the stress hormone), leading to anxiety and poor focus, Chronic late-sleepers face a higher risk of blood pressure and heart-related issues.

While getting 7–8 hours of sleep is vital, the timing matters just as much. Sleeping from 2 AM to 10 AM is often less refreshing than sleeping from 10 PM to 6 AM because the quality of deep sleep is higher before midnight. To keep your body from becoming a "home for diseases," experts suggest putting away electronic gadgets by 10 PM and aiming for a consistent sleep schedule.
