Yavatmal Police Arrest Youth for Carrying Country-Made Pistol

Yavatmal:-The Yavatmal City Police’s Detection Branch (D.B. Squad) successfully apprehended a 20-year-old man for illegal possession of a firearm and for creating a sense of terror in the city. The police recovered a country-made pistol (Desi Katta) valued at ₹25,000 from his possession.

The arrest took place on the night of April 8, 2026. While the D.B. Squad of Yavatmal City Police Station was on routine patrol, they received confidential information regarding a suspect moving along the Pimpalgaon to Dhamangaon Road. The informant stated that the individual was carrying a country-made pistol tucked into his waistband and was attempting to intimidate locals.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Police Inspector Ramkrishna Jadhav (In-charge of Yavatmal City Police Station) directed the squad to track down and arrest the suspect immediately.

The police team laid a strategic trap and intercepted the suspect. During the search, they found a country-made pistol worth ₹25,000 concealed on his person. The accused has been identified as Kunal Shivdas Gite (20), a resident of Masoli Pod, Moha, near Gram Panchayat, Yavatmal.

The police have registered an offense under Crime No. 277/2026, invoking Sections 3, 25 of the Arms Act, 1959. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway to determine the source of the weapon.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Kumar Chinta, Additional Superintendent of Police Ashok Thorat, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dinesh Baisane, and Police Inspector Ramkrishna Jadhav. The operation was carried out by the Crime Detection Branch (DB) team, comprising Police Sub-Inspector Ganesh Sapkal, Probationary Police Sub-Inspector Deepak Ghogare, Police Head Constables Raosaheb Shende and Kiran Padghan, and Police Constables Gaurav Thackeray and Pawan Nandekar. Pawan Tadse, Police Constable Pradip Kuradkar, Police Constable Mayur Tellewar, and Police Constable Pratik Nevare carried it out.
