Yavatmal Police Solved Murder Case Within 24 Hours

YAVATMAL: In a swift operation, the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of the Yavatmal Police has cracked a blind murder case within 24 hours of the crime. Two suspects, a husband and wife, have been arrested for the brutal killing of a 36-year-old man.

The victim, identified as Aatish Subhashrao Deshmukh, a resident of Govind Nagar, Yavatmal, was found dead on the morning of March 15, 2026. His body was discovered in a field near Waghapur village, within the jurisdiction of the Ladkhed Police Station. The victim had been fatally attacked with a knife and crushed with heavy stones.

Following the discovery, Superintendent of Police (SP) Kumar Chinta directed the Local Crime Branch to prioritize the case. Using technical surveillance and mobile data analysis, the LCB team, led by Police Inspector Satish Chavre, identified two suspects: Ankush Nagorao Khode (43) and his wife, Rupali Ankush Khode (38), residents of Dandekar Layout, Yavatmal.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime. According to police reports. The victim, Aatish, reportedly had a past relationship with Rupali. He was allegedly harassing her and issuing death threats to her husband, Ankush.Distressed by the continuous harassment, the couple hatched a plan to eliminate him. On March 14, they lured Aatish to a secluded spot where they attacked him with a knife and stones, leading to his death.

This operation was successfully executed under the guidance of the Superintendent of Police, Yavatmal (Shri Kumar Chinta), and the Additional Superintendent of Police (Shri Ashok Thorat), by a team comprising Shri Satish Chavare (Police Inspector, Local Crime Branch, Yavatmal), API Pawan Rathod, and Police Constables Bablu Chavan, Mithun Jadhav, Sohel Mirza, Kishor Zhendekar, Pawan Dhawale, Amit Zhendekar, Kavish Palekar, Digambar Pilavan, Lady Constable Prerana Kamble, and Driver Constables Jitu Chaudhary and Vivek Pethe—all from the Local Crime Branch, Yavatmal.
