Yavatmal:- The Municipal Council administration has launched a major crackdown on illegal constructions and encroachments today to address the city's growing traffic congestion and narrow road issues. The high-stakes campaign, which began this morning, has created a stir among local shopkeepers and residents.
To ensure a thorough cleanup, the administration has deployed its heavy-duty bulldozer. The operation aims to demolish all unauthorized structures and temporary stalls blocking the city's primary routes.
According to officials, the drive began at the Municipal Council premises and is set to cover all major arterial roads, including Main Line and Kalamb Chowk, Sharda Chowk, Darwha Road, Amravati Road, Arni Road, and Nagpur Road.
This is a coordinated effort involving the Municipal Council, the Local Police Force, and the Public Works Department (PWD). The administration had previously issued a public warning (Davandi) over the last two days, requesting citizens to remove their encroachments voluntarily. Authorities have made it clear that they will not be responsible for any financial losses or damages incurred by those who ignored the warnings.
The sudden intensity of the drive has caused significant anxiety among small-scale businessmen and eatery owners, particularly on the Nagpur highway. Many shopkeepers expressed concern over their livelihoods, stating that they are struggling to survive despite being regular taxpayers.
The administration has signaled that this will not be a one-day event. The campaign is expected to remain "continuous" to ensure that the city roads stay clear of future obstructions, marking a strict shift in the city's urban management policy.
