Wardha/Yavatmal:- In a chilling incident that has sent shockwaves through the region, a father has been accused of driving his own daughter to suicide by providing her with a helium gas cylinder and instructions on how to use it. The victim’s mother, Dr. Sushma Arun Wankhede, has now come forward, alleging that political pressure is preventing the police from taking action against her husband.
According to the press note issued by Dr. Sushma Wankhede (a resident of Dreamland City, Sawangi Meghe), her husband, Dr. Arun Uttam Wankhede, was allegedly involved in an extramarital affair with a woman named Revati Devtale. When Dr. Sushma and their daughter, Nakshatra Arun Wankhede, protested against this, they were subjected to continuous physical and mental abuse.
The mother alleges that Dr. Arun repeatedly insulted Nakshatra, calling her a "stain on the family" and telling her to end her life. On December 6, 2025, the harassment reached a fatal peak. It is alleged that Dr. Arun brought a helium gas cylinder to the house and sent Nakshatra a video via WhatsApp demonstrating how to install and use it for suicide. Distraught by the constant trauma, Nakshatra used the gas to end her life that midnight.
Allegations of Police Complicity
Despite the gravity of the case, Dr. Sushma claims the Sawangi (Meghe) police are shielding the accused. Key allegations include: It is alleged that high-level political pressure is stopping the police from registering a formal FIR. Dr. Sushma claims to have submitted solid evidence, including audio recordings, videos, and WhatsApp chats, but alleges that Investigating Officer Vishal Donekar and the Station House Officer (Thandar) are protecting her husband. While the incident occurred in early December, the mother claims she is still running from pillar to post to get the accused booked.
A Mother’s Cry for Justice
Dr. Sushma has now reached out to the Superintendent of Police (SP), the Home Ministry, and the Department of Women and Child Development. "My husband's conduct is perverse. I have all the evidence on my phone, but the police are not taking it seriously," she stated in her emotional appeal.
She has demanded the immediate arrest of Dr. Arun Wankhede, his sister Pramila Vinakare, and Revati Devtale for their role in the conspiracy and abetment of suicide.
