Math & Science Candidates Outshine; Social Science Results Drip to 3.2%

Yavatmal : The Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE) has released the comparative results for the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). The latest data reveals a striking disparity between subjects, with Mathematics and Science candidates recording the highest success rate, while aspirants for Social Science and Primary levels struggled to clear the benchmark.

Out of the total 3,53,952 candidates who appeared for the examination across various levels, only 30,168 candidates have been declared eligible. The overall passing percentage for the state stands at a modest 8.53%.

Dominance of Math and Science: Candidates in the Paper 2 (Math/Science) category performed exceptionally well, achieving a success rate of 28.33%. This is significantly higher than any other category, suggesting a strong grasp of technical subjects among applicants.

Struggle in Primary Level : Paper 1, meant for teachers of classes 1 to 5, saw the lowest qualifying rate at just 3.08%, despite having the highest number of applicants.

Social Science Concerns : Even with over 1.25 lakh aspirants appearing for Paper 2 (Social Science), the passing rate remained stagnant at 3.22%, highlighting a potential need for a shift in preparation strategy or a review of the curriculum's difficulty level.

Education experts suggest that while the high success in Math and Science is encouraging, the dismal results in Primary and Social Science sections raise concerns regarding the pedagogical training and preparation of aspiring educators in these fields.
