Yavatmal:-In a significant move that will benefit thousands of state and Zilla Parishad (ZP) primary and secondary school teachers, the Directorate of Primary Education, Maharashtra, has officially enabled the provision for House Rent Allowance (HRA) Arrears within the online payroll system.
According to a circular issued today by the Director of Primary Education (Primary), Maharashtra State, Pune, a dedicated "HRA Arrears" tab has been activated in the Shalarth portal. This technical update allows for the processing of backdated housing allowance increases that were previously pending.
The revision is a direct result of the hike in Dearness Allowance (DA). Under the rules of the 7th Pay Commission. The Maharashtra Government increased the DA from 50% to 53% effective from July 2024. As per government regulations, once the DA crosses the 50% threshold, the HRA rates are automatically revised upward. The Government Resolution (GR) dated February 25, 2025, formalized this increase, but the technical implementation in the salary system was awaited.
The Directorate has issued strict instructions to all Divisional Deputy Directors of Education, Education Officers (Primary) of all Zilla Parishads,Superintendents of Pay and Provident Fund Units.
These officials are now directed to utilize the newly available tab in the Shalarth system to ensure that the increased HRA and the resulting arrears from July 2024 onwards are credited to the employees' accounts promptly.
This announcement brings much-needed financial relief to primary teachers and educational staff across the state, ensuring that their salaries reflect the current inflation-linked adjustments as promised by the state government.
