Tehran/Washington/Berlin: Iran is currently witnessing unprecedented political turmoil, with signs of a massive uprising that many experts believe could lead to the fall of the existing Islamic regime. Global leaders have intensified their rhetoric, signaling a potential shift in the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East.
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has openly extended his support to the Iranian protesters. Taking to social media, Trump sent a direct message to the people of Iran, stating, "Help is on the way." In a move that has stunned diplomats, Trump also introduced a new slogan—MIGA (Make Iran Great Again)—echoing his famous domestic campaign slogan. His statements are being interpreted worldwide as a clear indication that his administration will pursue a policy of "Regime Change" in Tehran.
German Chancellor Predicts the End of the Regime
Adding to the international pressure, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has made a startling prediction. Speaking during his visit to Bengaluru, India, Merz stated that the current Iranian government is in its "final days or weeks."
The Chancellor noted that the scale of the internal rebellion is so vast that the clerical establishment may no longer be able to maintain its grip on power. This marks a significant shift in European rhetoric, which has traditionally been more cautious regarding Iranian internal affairs.
A Nation in Revolt
The situation on the ground in Iran remains critical. Protests have reportedly spread across all 31 provinces of Iran. What began as a movement against economic hardship, inflation, and unemployment has transformed into a full-blown revolution against the ruling system.
Reports suggest that the crackdown by security forces has been brutal. Estimates indicate that hundreds, and possibly over 2,000 people, have lost their lives in the clashes. Analysts are comparing the current unrest to the 1979 Revolution, noting that the protesters are no longer asking for reforms, but for the total dissolution of the current government.
The Iranian leadership is visibly rattled by the statements coming from Washington and Berlin. Tehran has officially warned the United States to stay out of its internal affairs, accusing Western powers of inciting "terrorism" within the country.
Meanwhile, Russia has entered the fray, warning the U.S. against any military intervention. Moscow stated that any foreign interference in Iran would have "catastrophic consequences" for global security.
With the U.S. promising "help" and European leaders predicting a collapse, the Iranian regime is facing its most existential threat in decades. The coming weeks are expected to be a turning point that will determine the future of Iran and the stability of the entire region.
